A perfect night for baseball, as the Americans hosted the Dodgers at Capitol Park. The scoring started early for the Dodgers as they were able to put up 4 runs in the first inning. The starting pitcher, Andrew Biber, making his season debut had command issues thowing out of the sand pit as he walked 3 and hit 1 batter.
The Americans struck back quickly as Matty "big boy" Newell, batting 2nd, smacked a triple to set the tone. Luke Au also reached on an error which cost the Dodgers 2 more runs.
Ricky Bugg came to the mound for the Americans in the second inning and silenced the Dodgers but walks and errors cost the Americans 2 runs. Bugg pitched to 11 batters over 2 innings and gave up 1 earned run. He had 3 BB's and 3 Stike outs.
The second inning (yes this is only the second inning) Peyton Maliszewski started the Americans off with a double. Although 8 batters came to the plate for the Americans in the second inning they could only cash in on 2 runs. The 3rd inning the Americans also brought 7 to the plate and only scored 1 run thanks to a key walk by Coach/Manager/writer Ben Gooch.
Enter "Two Way" Tyler Younes, playing like a man among boys, hit a 2 run bomb in the bottom of the fourth to give the Americans a 2 run lead. Wall Side Window's Player of the Game - Tyler Younes then struck out the side, in the top of the 5th, to end the game. Tyler had 5 stikes outs, 1 HR, with 3 RBI's on the day earning himself 50% off windows for life.
The Americans look to build on this win as they face the Marlins next tuesday, June 6th.
