METS ROUT PHILS 11-0 ON OPENING DAY
Let's start with the positives from Opening Day 2020:
- Starting Pitcher Justin Chandler recorded a backward K on the first opposing hitter of the season
(This concludes the positives from Opening Day 2020 - it was all downhill from there)
What appeared to be a beautiful evening for baseball ended up being anything but. First pitch: 6:00 pm. What proved to be the Mets winning run scores: 6:04 pm. Ouch! Early inning errors by Phillies fielders and middle inning solid contact by Mets hitters made for a long day in the field. At the plate, the Phillies faced an ace-level pitcher who somehow appeared to already be in midseason form. One controverial hit and a few walks produced the only baserunners of the night for the Phillies, with nobody andvancing past second base.
Big ups to Dr. Littleben Rauh for recording the team's only "hit" (an error in the Mets' book), Erik Kaptanowsky for drawing two walks and Pat(rick) Folk for pulling a ball to the left side of the infield.
The Phillies now look ahead to Wednesday night's showdown vs the Americans, in Flat Rock. Max Gordon is scheduled to make his much anticipated MSBL debut, under the lights. First pitch: 8:45 pm.
