IT'S OPENING DAY !!!
The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.
PLAY BALL !
Contributions abound for the start of the Woodpeckers 2021 season. Huge day at the plate and on the bases for the young 42 year old Ron Grendysa who lead the way with 3 hits, 4 runs scored, and 2 SB's. Whoever is responsible for cleaning his uniform is in for a long night. Not to be completely outdone by the young fella, on the other end of the spectrum, was Dino Telang who stole 3 bases to go along with his 2 hits, 2 rbi, and very important base running that provided Alberts with an rbi (WTG DINO !). He also had some solid defensive plays in the field to end Angel ralleys. Other multiple hit players were Boats, Chevalier, Lentz, Alberts, and Fry.
The team was happy to have Curt McNamara but we lost him for a couple of innings as he left early for California to go and catch a monster flyball from David Miller. Took him 2 innings to get back to the field it was hit so far. Umpire Tony had to verify by way of google satelite viewing that he indeed made the catch.
A HUGE day from Jeremy Chevalier as he welcomed 2021 all throughout the book. 2 hits, 3 rbi, 2 no hit innings to go along with being the winning pitcher for his first MSBL win.
Joe Peace came in to slam the door shut with 2 scoreless no hit (base hits that is, he did hit a couple of batters) innings for his first save since the 2018 season.
