Brews Clip 'Birds Wings in Revenge Game, 5-2
First two batters get aboard and score. Recipe for loss right? Negative.
Larry, Gary, Jerry Basile, and the Boys, Buc'd the trend with a 5-2 dub. Gary went 5 full, scattering 6 hits and 2 runs to lead the way to victory. Basile also struck out 7 along the way to register his second victory of the shortened season. Offensively, newcomer Nate Weiss and Evan 'Mornin Glory' hugged it out and got the boys fired up at the dish with a couple multi-hit games, having direct hand in 2 R's and 3 RBIs. The Boys tallied 10 hits this morning and never looked back after taking a 3-2 lead of the bat of the Oldest Rookie in the world David Haynes, a few less cold ones over the offseason would've made a 2 run game but Skip likes the sauce a bit, but don't we all? The team is called the Brewers for a reason, but back to the action.
After Haynesy's shot down the line in the 5th, Weiss cashed in two of his three RBIs to extend the lead and give way to the defense and Colbert on the mound. Colbert continued his crafty ways notching the 6 out save and shutting the door on Redbird's heart of the order to seal the victory in the late innings.
ICE COLD BREWS OF THE NIGHT
Evan Morin in his return this season leading the way from the leadoff slot getting on base all 3 times at the plate, Gary Basile with the gem of start shutting the 'Birds down after the first two scoring batters, and Colbert Lucey locking down the 6 out save highlighted the way today and all earned their first ICBN's on the year.
The Brew Crew now looks to continue the streak with a downriver special on Wednesday night against that team up north the Expos.
